VAMPS were formed by HYDE (L’Arc~en~Ciel) and K.A.Z (Oblivion Dust) in 2008. In the 7 years since their formation, they have played a total of more than 350 live shows both in Japan and internationally. Well known for their signature “take-over” style live shows at the ZEPP venues throughout Japan, the duo continue to play a vast variety of shows, including arena venues, outdoor gigs and their famous annual Halloween Event. VAMPS have had their sights set on the overseas music scene ever since their formation, with their touring history including 10 shows in the U.S in 2009 and a tour around Asia, Europe, North and South America in 2010. In 2013 they signed with Universal Music/Delicious Deli Records, which saw the release of their album “SEX BLOOD ROCK N’ ROLL” in 118 countries worldwide. Having teamed up with global concert producers “Live Nation” the same year, their global expansion took off with a flourish. On the 25th June 2014, the duo released “VAMPS LIVE 2014: LONDON”, featuring footage from their acclaimed London show. The same month saw them play at DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, one of the UK’s biggest rock festivals. Their 9th single ‘GET AWAY/THE JOLLY ROGER” was released on the 20th August 2014, followed by 10th single ‘VAMPIRE’S LOVE’ on the 8th October. On the 29th October their first original album in 4 years, ‘BLOODSUCKERS’ was released. With the album in tow, VAMPS have recently played their first national live house tour in a year, ‘VAMPS LIVE 2014-2015’, and are currently on their arena tour ‘VAMPS LIVE 2015 “BLOODSUCKERS”’.
[Alexandros] officially started in 2007. The band has released four albums, and their release tours have all sold out. Despite being independent, their single and album releases have all charted in the Oricon top 10. [Alexandros] have opened up for bands like MUSE, PRIMAL SCREAM, and KASABIAN when they have played in Japan. Recently, they have played overseas at “SXSW” in the U.S., “THE GREAT ESCAPE” in England, and “one-man” concerts in Taiwan. They sold out their first Nippon Budokan solo show, held on March 28, 2014, the day tickets went on sale. The band continues to headline festivals all across the country. [Alexandros] have planned global activities with Universal Music in 2015, and will also release their first single and late-night drama tie-up in nine months, called “WATARIDORI / Dracula”. In June, they will release their first full album in two years. [Alexandros] will play their second Nippon Budokan solo show in July, and start on an album release tour in the autumn. This four-piece is a representing the state of rock music in Japan today.
Okamoto Sho (vocals) / Okamoto Kouki (guitar) / Hama Okamoto (bass) / Okamoto Reiji (drums) OKAMOTO’S is a four-piece rock band of junior high school classmates. The band name and the members’ names come from avant-garde artist Taro Okamoto and the legendary punk band Ramones, both of whom they highly respect. The band made their major debut when they were age 18, and has released six singles and six albums to date. In 2010, OKAMOTO’S became the youngest Japanese males to perform at SxSW2010. Since then, they have been performing actively overseas, and have done a seven-city tour in US, a tour in Australia, and an Asian tour to perform in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Vietnam. Back home in Japan, the band has performed over 300 shows in three years since their debut, sweeping all major festivals and events such as Fuji Rock Festivals. In 2011, OKAMOTO’S was the guest act of the Japan tour of The Verbs, the supergroup of Steve Jordan, Pino Palladino, Meegan Voss, and Tamio Okuda. The following year, they were also the guest act of Paul Weller’s Japan tour, garnering rave reviews. Transgressing the generations and musical genres, the band collaborates with top-notch artists on recording projects and live sessions, expanding their scope of activities on a worldwide basis. In 2014, the band celebrated their 5th debut anniversary with a commemorative album, which was a collaborative project with a spectacular list of artists such as RIP SLYME and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra to name a few, and with a tremendously successful concert at the Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall in Tokyo in the fall. OKAMOTO’S is the leading figure among the young bands in the Japanese music scene.
